Trailblazer Gala Honoring J. Larry Nichols
Overview
The 2023 Trailblazer Gala was a night to celebrate legacy, leadership and innovation, as the Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy honored J. Larry Nichols with the Oklahoma Trailblazer Award. As co-founder of Devon Energy, Nichols has profoundly shaped the energy industry and the State of Oklahoma. Honoring him with the College’s highest award required a gala as extraordinary as his legacy.
Working alongside the College’s advancement team, I strategized, planned and implemented every detail, from print materials and email campaigns to A/V collateral. Held at Vast in Devon Tower, the evening featured an elegant reception, a stunning performance by a cellist in the lobby and an anthem video with contributions from notable leaders like Rex Tillerson and Congressman Tom Cole. The result was an unforgettable celebration of a true trailblazer’s legacy.

I planned, designed and implemented a cohesive suite of materials—including print, digital and A/V elements—and worked with Ackerman & McQueen on an anthem video featuring industry and civic leaders. The gala’s design and execution created a meaningful and lasting tribute to Nichols’ impact.
